Dr George Deutsch FRCP, FRCR, (Chairman)

Dr Deutsch was appointed consultant to the then Radiotherapy department at RSCH in 1974. As Head of the department from 1978 to 2001 he was responsible for the department's development into a full Cancer Centre. This was supported by his Chairmanship of the Charity and involvement in many Regional and National committees. Until his partial retirement in 2004 his main clinical responsibilities were breast and head and neck cancer but this has now changed to bowel and prostate cancer. Dr Deutsch has maintained his interest in improving communication with patients by audiotaping consultations. Before fully retiring he hopes to see the Charity fund build a "patient support centre"

tomorrow have a sound understanding of the principles and importance of
cancer management.
