Resus Trolley and Defibrilator
Needed to provide the quickest emergency life saving support for acutely unwell patients in radiotherapy.

Digital cameras
To comply with NHS policy regarding patient identification of patients, a photo of each patient is required. As patients no longer routinely attend the simulator where the photo is taken, cameras are needed in the radiotherapy department to ensure the correct procedure is followed prior to treatment.

Breast board trolley
Each Linear Accelerator (the machine that delivers radiotherapy) treats 40-50 patients daily, on different parts of the body. The board used for breast cancer patients is extremely heavy, slow and difficult to manouveur. These trolleys would enable quick and safe set up in between patients, alleviating unnecessary delay and additionally protecting staff from possible injury.

Phantoms for commissioning and routine QA of CT imaging and treatment planning, and dose verification. Enables a wide range of investigations and checks.

SLA battery tester

Aromatherapy Diffusers and Oils
Patients using the mould room spend time having immobilising casts and masks made prior to radiotherapy treatment. Aromtherapy is known to aid relaxation and relieve stress, as well as providing a pleasant environment for patients.

We offer music to patients receiving radiotherapy, but are currently unable to do so to patients having their moulds/casts made. Buying this would mean they would be able to listen to music whilst in the mould room, relieving tension and stress and aiding relaxation.

Tracheostomy tray
The oncology outpatient clinic treats a lot of head and neck radiotherapy patients who have or may need specialist support with airway management. The tray includes dilators, valves and tubes to assist with this.

Multi-purpose storage trolleys (two required)
These are needed for our outpatients clinics to keep all the equipment needed by our nurses to hand. They will keep the clinics clutter free but funding from elsewhere is unavailable.

Laptop computer. (four required)
Lap tops are used in clinics at the Cancer Centre and outside clinics to record consultations for patient on CD so that they may have a permanent record of their meeting with their Doctor. The laptops are also used to show patients helpful illustrations and diagrams related to their consultation with the doctor to aid understanding. The scheme has been successfully piloted in the Head and Neck and Breast clinics and we would now like to expand the scheme. To supply ONE clinic with the relevant equipment and software for ONE year would cost approximately £500 soft ware and £535+VAT for each lap top.

Potable Suction Unit
Needed for outpatient clinics, since we have an increasing number of traceostomy patients, who need this essential equipment on standby in emergencies.

Recordable CD Players
These allow oncology patients to record their consultations with consultants allowing them to play these back. Many find it extremely helpful to be able to recall information they may not have been able to absorb at the time of their appointment, and this facility has proved popular elsewhere.

Kitchen equipment for support group
A cookery support group is being set up by the oncology consultant dietician and Macmillan nurses, for people recovering from cancer. Patients will learn howto cook recipes that are beneficial for their condition, determined by the type of their cancer and treatment they have received. The group will run from a community kitchen and equipment is needed to get it started.

This is needed to place intravenous lines in chemotherapy patients, preventing the need for repeated use of needles during treatment.
