Charities Working Together….Jane’s Wish

Jane's WishThe Sussex Cancer Fund has always been proud to work in partnership with other charities. We understand that we can achieve more together. In particular, we like working with other small local charities that complement the work we do. Jane’s Wish is one of those charities.

Who are Jane’s Wish?

Jane’s Wish is a small Sussex charity providing days out to local families with children affected by cancer. They hope to enrich thousands of young lives and bring a smile to those who need it most.

Why they’re here

Jane Manuel was an inspiring mum, sister and daughter from Horsham, West Sussex. She sadly lost the battle with cancer in 2004 however even during her illness she would go on days out and short breaks, as she was determined to create that special family time despite the circumstances. This is what drives the vision of Jane’s Wish!

How they help families

Since being founded they have provided days out to dozens of families living in the Sussex area, sending families to various places including zoos, theme parks and theatre shows. Their criteria for offering a day out is that families must live within Sussex, and have an under 18 child who has been affected in some way. This includes the child themselves suffering from cancer, or their parents.

How can families apply for a day out?

To apply for a day out, they ask a parent from the family to complete a short application form (it only takes 10 minutes!) – www.janeswish.org.uk/day-out-application-intro.html Once they receive the application, Jane’s Wish will get in touch with you to discuss the type of day out you would like, agree a date and address any worries or concerns you may have if you are going through treatment. They will then fund and book the day out for you, making the whole process stress free! The day out is exclusively for your family and doesn’t involve anyone else. Jane’s Wish asks families to share photos from their day out if possible, so they can see how much fun they have had, and share on social media to further our cause.
