Heat Pads for the Clinical Research Facility

Joanne Brown, Research Administrator for Oncology at the Clinical Research Facility

The Sussex Cancer Fund is delighted to have purchased 4 heat pads for the Clinical Research Facility (CRF) based at the Royal County Hospital. Clinical Research Facilities (CRFs) provide dedicated departments and expert staff to deliver high-intensity experimental research and mean that patients are more likely to be offered the opportunity to participate in clinical trials.  The Royal Sussex County is lucky to host one of only 19 CRFs in the country.

Heat pads are used to wrap around chemotherapy patients’ arms to help bring up the veins, this helps with venepuncture and cannulation for chemotherapy treatment. It is small things like this that help to make treatment a little more bearable.
