Leaving a gift in your will

Leaving a gift in your will

Legacies

With your help, we really can make a difference for local people in Sussex.  Our record shows that most people can be helped, and many cured, with our sophisticated equipment and dedicated team of consultants, nurses and radiographers.
A gift to our Charity can help us achieve better things for our patients and enable us to continue to offer the best possible cancer treatment and help us plan future work and projects.
We would advise anyone making or updating a will to seek independent legal advice and your solicitor or other professional advisor can help you arrange a legacy.

Types of Legacy

Specific Bequest
This is a specifically-named item left in your Will as a gift, for example, a piece of jewellery or a stamp collection.  These are the first gifts to be distributed after all your outstanding bills have been paid.

Pecuniary Bequest
This is a straight cash gift of a fixed sum. Your solicitor or other professional advisor can tell you more about this.

Residuary Bequest
Once all other gifts are distributed and debts cleared you may still have assets left over.  This is called the residue of your estate.  You may wish to leave your entire residue or a share of it to us. Whatever the size of the legacy it will be exempt from inheritance tax as a gift to charity is a straight cash gift of a fixed sum. Your solicitor or other professional advisor can tell you more about this.
