Russell’s Royal Parks (9) Marathon Walk in London

Russell Taylor, was due to take part in a walking marathon across the South Downs through the night to raise funds for the Sussex Cancer Fund. The event, had been delayed because of Covid several times, so Russell not wanting to let the Sussex Cancer Fund and his supporters down changed his event to the Royal Parks (9) Marathon Walk in London.

Russell is also a member of the Sussex Vale Rotary Club, and the club has very generously sponsored Russell £500 to help get him to his target of £2000. However, Russell tirelessly campaigned and rallied his supporters and raised an amazing £15,000!

Russell’s Story

“On Saturday 7 August I completed the Marathon Walk around 9 London Parks – 26.5 miles and 61,000 steps! Started in Bushy Park and ended in Greenwich Park.
This replaced the long-postponed night marathon walk on the South Downs. Got completely drenched on Saturday morning but dried out by the finish line.
Great group to walk with – a total of 20 started and 11 finished the course at the Greenwich Observatory – which just had to be at the top of a very steep hill !!”

We would like to extend a huge thank you to Russell, The Sussex Vale Rotary Club and of course all those that have supported Russell and the Sussex Cancer Fund.
