‘Baby’ Linacs
These are complete miniature versions for the clinical Linear Accelerators used to deliver radiotherapy to patients. They would allow radiographers to model and plan radiotherapy before the patient started their treatment, maximising accuracy, making the treatment more efficient and minimising the time spent having to prepare for treatment in the full size clinical Linacs.

Breast board trolley
Each Linear Accelerator (the machine that delivers radiotherapy) treats 40-50 patients daily, on different parts of the body. The board used for breast cancer patients is extremely heavy, slow and difficult to manouveur. These trolleys would enable quick and safe set up in between patients, alleviating unnecessary delay and additionally protecting staff from possible injury.

The BCON clinical trial has demonstrated that the use of Carbogen (a gas that is 98% oxygen) and Nicotinamide (vitamin B) when used with radiotherapy significantly improves overall survival and local relapse. We are looking to purchase a regulator for the administration of Carbogen gas so that more patients can benefit from this treatment.

Electric examination couches.
At present the clinic rooms examination couches are very old and difficult for patients to use. They are not height adjustable and have to use steps so patients can get on/off them. For frail patients this can be very difficult and on occasions some patients can not use the couches.
The electric couches are able to height adjust and are slighter wider making them more comfortable for the patient and more user friendly. We are able to use the electric couch for very frail patients.

Digital Hand Dynamometer
This tool is used to measure patients strength, this is particularly useful if they have been losing weight. Together with a percentage body weight loss it can assist an overall assessment of a patients nutritional needs pre and during treatment. It may also be useful as a measure to support which treatment would best suit the patients needs and can be used to plot progress through the patients journey.

Kitchen equipment for support group
A cookery support group is being set up by the oncology consultant dietician and Macmillan nurses, for people recovering from cancer. Patients will learn howto cook recipes that are beneficial for their condition, determined by the type of their cancer and treatment they have received. The group will run from a community kitchen and equipment is needed to get it started.
