Wolo FoundationThe Sussex Cancer Fund has always been proud to work in partnership with other charities. We understand that we can achieve more together. In particular, we like working with other small local charities that complement the work we do. The Wolo Foundation is one of those charities.

About Wolo Foundation

What is Wolo?

Wolo stands for ‘we only live once’ – the perfect way to describe their ethos – to make the most of each day….life is a blessing and we need to enjoy it doing the things we love, with the ones we love.

Husband and wife team, Justin and Fler Wright set up Wolo Foundation after a cancer diagnosis of their own. With three young children to support, they were shocked at what little help there was out there for families like theirs. Knowing they didn’t want others to go through it like they did, ignited a little flame inside their hearts – and that’s how the idea all began.

How does Wolo help?

Wolo Foundation has been set up to support families living in Sussex through their cancer journeys, by offering practical help and support to help make their day-to-day lives easier. Wolo offer a huge range of services that are bespoke to each of the families they support, as their circumstances can vary hugely. The purpose is to help with the day-to-day jobs or things to help their journey through (or after) treatment easier. Wolo are also passionate about using the services available within the local community. During Covid-19 Wolo have adapted their services in line with government restrictions, and have been working with local businesses to deliver isolation packages containing essential food items, fresh food, toys and activity packs to help keep families healthy and children amused during the shielding/isolation process.

How can you help?

Wolo are looking for anyone who can offer a service to a family going through cancer treatment – whether it be a beauty treatment, childcare, legal service, memory making, counselling, gardening or a meal – literally anything! They are funded through the charity – they don’t expect you to offer them for free. Wolo want to build up awareness of what they do, and work with local businesses to help make a difference to
the lives of local families going through cancer.

Wolo hold a variety of fundraising events throughout the year, and are always looking for donations that they can raffle or auction off. If you think you could help, or would like to organise your own fundraising event, please get in touch. If you are affected by cancer, or know a family that is, please get in touch so that Wolo can offer their support.

Statistics show that 1 in 2 people in the UK born after 1960 will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime

Life is precious – we need to make the most of it – we only live once. Wolo!
